The Scottish Reformation Society
Reformation-Scotland is the website of the Inverness Branch of the Scottish Reformation Society. Our aim is to promote a witness to the history, theology and principles of the Protestant Reformation in Scotland.
Inverness Branch
The Inverness Branch of the Scottish Reformation Society was established in 1978 under the leadership of Rev Hugh Ferrier. Rev Maurice Roberts, minister of the Free Church of Scotland Continuing in Inverness, was chairman of the branch for about 15 years until the end of 2009. Rev George Hutton, minister of the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland in Inverness, has beeen our chairman since January 2010.
We are fully committed to the sole authority of Scripture as the infallible Word of God and Justification by Faith Alone in Christ Alone, and seek to encourage the clear proclamation of such truths. We aim to be faithful to the witness borne by the Reformers, ‘according to the consensus of the Reformed Confessions’.
The Inverness Branch holds five public meetings each year, in which a lecture is given on a doctrinal or historical subject, usually relating to the Reformation in Scotland, or the subsequent history of the Scottish Church, with applications for today.
These meetings are usually held between October and March, in the Inverness Royal Academy, and details are posted on the home page.

Details of future lectures are made available on this site. We also produce a Syllabus of Meetings for each season of lectures, and reminders of upcoming lectures are sent by e-mail. To request a printed syllabus or to added to our email list, please contact the secretary.
This site provides a Catalogue of Lectures, delivered at previous meetings of the society. The more recent of these are available on-line to listen or download. Some lectures are also available in text version, along with many other reformed articles and sermons in the Articles section.
At the time of the Scottish Reformation in 1560, the Scots Confession was prepared following a request from Parliament. The Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms were received by the Church of Scotland in the mid 17th century, and have had great influence in the Scottish Church since that time. These documents, and articles about them, are available in the Confessions & Catechisms section.
Scots Worthies, by John Howie, contains short biographies of men who have been influencial in the Scottish Reformation and the subsequent history of the Scottish Church.
Please Contact Us if you are interested in particular Scottish authors, and would like to read some of their works on this site.
